February is synonymous with two main activities in Malta – St Paul’s Shipwreck and Carnival. Each year the Oratory in Sliema joins the festivities by the Carnival Disco. Around 200 members and friends, including members of the Dingli Oratory, danced to music by DJ Dundz and DJ Didi. The Costume competition was also held with awards in different categories, like Most Creative Costume and Best Couple.
Preparations for the Pope’s Visit in April have long been underway. KDZ the local Diocesan Youth Commission is preparing youth with a pilgrimage together with the WYD Cross and an Icon of the Mary from one Youth mass to another across the Island. On the 29th of January it was the turn of the Salesian Oratory n Sliema to receive the Cross and Icon. For the occasion a special prayer Service was held by Fr Eric. During the prayer service divided in three stages all members of the Oratory were presented with a reflection.
