Salesian Oratory - Sliema

On Friday 7 August the Oratory organised its yearly trip to Comino, having all our members young and old joining in. The boat left for Comino at around 9.30am from the Ferries packed with Oratory members only (circa 120 in all). On arrival at around 11am everyone sped off for a quick dip before being treated to a full buffet meal plus drinks on board at around noon. Once the meal was over, it was back to the beautiful limpid waters of the Blue Lagoon where we had over 3 hours of swimming, diving and lots of fun in the water!

Fr.J.Borg 60th Anniversary Mass

We read in Don Bosco’s letter from Rome of 1884, “...the greatest cordiality and confidence existed between the boys and the superiors. Familiarity breeds affection and affection breeds confidence”. Indeed this same spirit permeated the Sliema Oratory throughout the 3-day long celebrations of its 101 years since the foundation of the same. This year’s festivity coincided with the 150th anniversary since the beginning of the Salesian Congregation. A special program was organised to underline the moment of grace.

Fr. Adriano Bregoin SDB, Vicar of the Rector Major, will be presiding a Eucharistic Celebration at Savio College during which, a group of 30 lay parents and friends will pronounce the promise as new Salesian Cooperators. The Oratory will be closed on Saturday.

 
Annual Marian Manifestation for the Salesian Family in Malta. The procession aux flambaux with the statue of Mary Help of Christians will leave St. Patrick's grounds at 19.30. Mass will follow in the same grounds. The Youth Centre's Worship Team will animate the Mass. There will be no 19.30 Mass at the Oratory. The Club will open after the Eucharistic Celebration

An outing to Gozo for the past pupils and parents is going to be held on the 30th of May. For more details contact any of the members of the past pupil commitee.

A special Mass will be celebrated at 20.00 at the Oratory's Chapel on the occassion of the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians. All members of te different sectors of the Oratory (including uniformed SBGB) are cordially invited to attend and bring along friends and family members. The Salesian River of Worship will animate the music ministry. Let us entrust our families and prjects to Our Lady following te example of Don Bosco

The World Confederation of Past Pupils organised a conference with the theme, ‘School for Leaders’ from the 23rd to 26th April 2009 at Zafferana, Sicily. Alberto Ebejer, secretary of the Sliema Oratory unit, represented Malta. Past Pupils from Italy, Spain, England and Malta took part. The exchange of experience was a very good one. The only drawback was that the Mass and most of the speeches were in Spanish and Italian. The English speaking
